Cure of the goawayiamnotateenageranymore Acne Issues

11 Apr

For as far back as I recall, I have had an issue with acne. It has changed over the years and now apparently, according to the dermatologist, has turned into a form of cystic acne… yes. i agree – it’s gross. Since I hardly ever wear make up, I need help in fighting the acne invaders on my face so this red-blotchiness is no more.

My acne has almost always been just face-related and seems to take hold in the area between my nose and chin.  I have tried medicines, both oral and topical and now, I am just sick of worrying about it and thinking about it and seeing it and knowing it is there. For the past two years, I have been using a sulfa based wash and I am tired of it. simply tired of it.  and it has slowly began to stop working. If I never set foot into a dermatologist’s office again it will be too soon.

So, like I try to do in most other aspects of my life, I want to go natural. I want a holistically pure approach to keeping those zits far from me – go find a prepubescent little boy to pick on!

I truly feel my acne is caused my some sort of imbalance, be it emotional, physical, hormonal, lack of sleep or even the amount of sunlight I might get during the week.  My body knows me and it knows how to fight and fix itself. Something I am doing is causing it to get out of whack and it is just letting me know this through cute little blackheads and fun red spots on my face – I think the same is true for the headaches I have been getting since I was in high school (obviously I haven’t figured out what that issue is yet).

So – Here is what I have searched for in terms of a holistic approach to curing acne:

(in no particular order, just as they pop into my head)

  1. Lemon Juice
  2. Baking Soda
  3. Honey
  4. Aloe Vera
  5. Sunlight
  6. Exercise
  7. Sleep
  8. Healthy diet avoiding gluten and the “whites” group
  9. Plenty of water
  10. Cucumber
  11. Jojoba oil
  12. Tea Tree Oil
  13. Meditation (some people swear by it as a means to healthy skin!)

That is what I have come up with so far.  Now, I am more confused then ever. I certainly don’t want to make my skin more sensitive or red, so where do I start?

Well, My plan is to start with lemon, baking soda and honey and go from there. Why? I don’t know.  There is no method to this idea.
Just sounds good and natural. Some of the ideas are no-brainers anyways like drinking water, getting exercise, eating well…

Stay tuned to see how each of these remedies work against Mr. Acne.

Do you have any skin regiments that help  your skin look young, fresh and acne free? Would love to hear it!

My next goal – stop taking Excedrin for headaches.  I have started going to the chiropractor and I honestly, truly think it has helped some with my headaches.
At least I am only getting about 1 a week compared to 3 or 4 times a week. Any suggestions for his is also greatly appreciated!

Talk to you soon, hopefully with radiating skin!
